[...] Five Point Someone was the inspiration for the phenomenally popular (and one of my personal favorite films) 3 Idiots (2009) which had the same basic premise—three slackers at IIT—but went far beyond it, turning it from a college-antics novel into a strong bromance with a rom-com thread and megawatt star power. Aamir Khan played the Ryan-analogue character, called Rancho, an unconventional thinker with surprising technical gifts. Kareena Kapoor played his out-of-reach love interest. Sharman Joshi and R. Madhavan also starred, with Boman Irani playing the nemesis-professor and a fun cameo by Javed Jaffrey. The book was not followed closely although certain key events in the novel did reach the screen more or less intact, and each 3 Idiots character seemed to have attributes of all three of the FPS protagonists as well as quite a few original aspects. Suffice it to say that one can safely read the book without spoiling the movie, and vice versa. For a point-by-point comparison, check out this article. Did simbu have the script in place when he was shooting in Brooklyn bridge? if so what was the ending there?. or did he change the story of his movie just coz he saw trisha der in the bridge.. or is he that one of the directors who has come to US without a script and deciding the next scene on the fly?

Probably im way too late for posting a reply ..but I want to contribute .. being a recent fan of this amazing women I've literally got addicted about her .. she is one talented amazing women ... Let it be her versatile singing or voice acting or blogging or and it's quite surprising that she is able to manage a company without any advertisement .. the point is there are very few women who can do all these things that you do .. and I've always wonder how women can have such big heart with so much love for everyone .. I
think you are one among them after reading your countless tweets and bogs .. anyway you have a big family of fans out here and moreover there are many who will be happy and proud to have a daughter like you .. and it wouldn't be fair if I hadn't said that you earned the respect of countless men .. it doesn't sound big but it's something to be proud of.. And if I can give a suggestion then it would be we want you to write songs and have your own band and do concerts regularly .. and finally I hope your prince charming walk into your life very soon .. and we want to see the baby version of you .. may God bless enormously ..

Venkatesh: You need to invest in the Lost box set. You will like the special features. Clearly you have missed a lot and the show has gone over your head and I don't know where to start. :)

I live in California and have spent my entire adult life working with children and adults
with reading difficulties, especially dyslexics. I was unaware of this film until I rented the
DVD on Netflix in October of 2010. This wonderful film has affected me as no other
ever has. Not only is it the best film ever about dyslexia for a mass audience, it is a
beautiful sensitive entertainment, as well as an indictment of our constant striving for
academic goals, while ignoring many talents that so many children less scholastically
gifted possess. The songs were wonderful, particularly Maa, and the title song "Taare
Zameen Par", and the climactic scene, accented with the beautiful score, was the
most moving film moment I have ever experienced. I have watched it over a dozen
times and find myself humming the score frequently. I am 71, and have seen about
2500 films in my life, many repeatedly, and this is my favorite ever, surpassing such
classics as "To Kill A Mockingbird" and "One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest". Thank
you Aamir and Darsheel. You have truly opened my eyes to India cinema.

GNGM, to sum up in one word, is 'beautiful'. It was a simple and honest storytelling at its best and the crew stuck to the basic tenet that script is THE God. There are a zillion reviews out there on the net raving about the movie, so I will just leave it to that.

Finally, someone, for the love of Indian-womankind, showed that a young well-educated girl can talk sensibly without dumping crap loads of trashy mush on the screen.

P.S. You had me at 'strangers in the night' in the trailer! :)
